Balkh Railway Department: Average daily revenue reaches 12 million AFN

BALKH, Jan. 29 – According to representatives of the Balkh Railway Department, they deliver 12 million Afghanis in daily earnings to the state coffers.

 

In an interview with Bakhtar Agency, Mawlawi Mohammad Shafiq Mahmood, the director of the aforementioned province’s railways, stated that this department has 5 stations between Haritan port and Mazar-e-Shef city, through which 180–200 waggons of commercial cargo are delivered to the nation each day. 20 waggons are imported and exported to Uzbekistan and other Central Asian nations.

 

Mawlawi Mahmood asserts that this department has offered businessmen facilities for the transfer and security of their commodities ever since the Islamic Emirate’s re-establishment.

He added that this division operates in Balkh, Faryab, and Herat and that oil, gas, bread, wheat, and other items are imported into the nation via this channel.

 

From 2011 until 2022, the Afghanistan ST Company, which is currently owned by by the name of Mansour Fateh, was purchased annually by the Department of Railway Maintenance, Operations, Monitoring and Control for 38–40 million dollars.

According to an 8 million dollar agreement with the Turkmen company, the revenue of the aforementioned department has increased, and Afghan engineers have taken advantage of this opportunity to further their professional skills.

 

According to Mawlawi Mahmood, this department collects an average of 12 million AFN in revenue every day, and in the previous 10 months of this year, it has made an estimated $1.2 billion AFN.
