KABUL, Sep. 19 – A total of 1,715,000 AFG as a cash assistance were disbursed by Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) to 343 beggars families in the Marasroon (relief center) of Kabul, where each family received 5,000 AFN, says a statement of ARCS.
During the distribution ceremony of this cash aid, Mr. Maulvi Muti-ul-Haq Khalis the Acting General President of Afghan Red Crescent, addressed the media, stating, that “Fortunately, cash assistance program to beggars has been proceeding successfully since its inception. Where as around 41,000 beggars have been identified in Kabul city alone.”
He added, “In the past, our program entailed providing 2,000 Afghanis per month to each family member, but due to constraints in the income and budget of the ARCS, which is insufficient to support all the beggars, Consequently, we made the decision to provide each family 5,000 Afghanis per month, where through this process, 7,030 members of 1,329 families have received cash assistance in nine phases.”
Furthermore, the Acting President of ARCS appealed to the international community and national benovelent people and businessmen of the country, to support ARCS in this regard and channel their aid to those genuinely in need and deserve through the Red Crescent.
He emphasized, “The revenue and budget of ARCS is not sufficient to support the beggars adequately.
Hence we kindly request the leadership of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to cooperate fully with ARCS by allocating funds from its treasury (Ministry of Finance) to enable us to successfully keep continue this process.
