According to Sayed Sarwar Amani, the head of the Kandahar Chamber of Mines and Industries, an Arab investor named Abu Mohammad is looking to invest in the export, packaging, and juice production of pomegranates within the Kandahar Industrial City.

Amani noted that the majority of Kandahar’s pomegranates were traditionally sent to Pakistan for export. However, the substantial tariffs imposed by Pakistan this year have significantly impacted the region’s pomegranate growers economically. Therefore, there is a pressing need to invest in the processing of pomegranates and other fruits. It is noteworthy that this marks the first instance of Arab investors expressing interest in this sector. Notably, this is also the inaugural occasion of an Arab investor investing in the processing and export of Kandahar’s pomegranates within Afghanistan.
