At a media briefing conducted at the Government Media and Information Center, representatives from the Supreme Court provided an overview of the institution’s activities over the preceding year.

Officials underscored that, as per a directive from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, a total of 2,304 detainees were released in observance of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, with an additional 1,920 individuals benefiting from sentence reductions following recommendations from relevant authorities.

They also disclosed that throughout the year, 185,591 cases were successfully resolved. The courts at various tiers, including primary, appellate, and supreme courts, handled a total of 250,762 civil and criminal cases. Among these, primary courts adjudicated 203,478 cases, appellate courts handled 34,762 cases, and supreme courts managed 7,892 cases, while some cases are still pending review.

Furthermore, officials addressed the handling of 8,005 cases related to narcotics and 3,373 cases concerning women’s legal rights under Sharia law.

The Supreme Court meticulously processed and recorded 179,818 legal documents in its database over the past year.

Additionally, the Court received and effectively implemented 335 cabinet resolutions and directives from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate.

In the Islamic year 1445, the Supreme Court conducted 38 sessions of its High Council, resulting in 191 crucial decisions.

The General Inspection Department of the Supreme Court meticulously audited 533 cases in adherence to existing laws and regulations. Inspection teams carried out visits to all provinces during the year, evaluating appellate, city, and district courts, as well as inspecting prisons to assess the well-being of inmates.
