During a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Higher Education unveiled a comprehensive report outlining the ministry’s accomplishments over the previous year.

 

The report showcases notable progress, such as the introduction of 11 doctoral programs, 26 master’s programs, and 13 new faculties at public universities, along with the launch of 10 master’s programs at private higher education institutions, signifying significant advancements in the country’s higher education sector.

 

Emphasizing alignment with religious, national values, and international benchmarks, the Ministry revised and updated a total of 131 academic curricula, comprising 89 bachelor’s programs, 35 master’s programs, and 7 doctoral programs, all awaiting approval.

 

The ministry reiterated its dedication to enriching the educational environment by hiring 640 academic experts through open competition and appointing 1,317 individuals to administrative, professional, and specialized positions.

 

The report disclosed that the current university enrollment stands at 189,991 students, with 51,950 students graduating in the preceding year. Additionally, 2,212 students who were pursuing education abroad have returned to Afghanistan, with their qualifications meticulously evaluated.

 

Moreover, the ministry conducted examinations for 40,000 religious scholars to ensure equivalency and credential assessment.

 

To enhance practical training for students, facilitate graduates’ entry into government roles, and boost staff professional growth, the Ministry of Higher Education has inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various ministry sectors.

 

Nine construction projects, encompassing laboratories, research farms, libraries, computer labs, and classrooms, have been finalized and are operational. Furthermore, six renovation projects are currently in progress within both the capital and provincial regions.
