BADAKHSHAN, Jul. 18 – Reports arriving from northern Badakhshan province say that Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate launched a clearing operation in Khash district amid the ongoing annual ‘Omari’ campaign late Sunday afternoon.

The operation lasted till around midnight during which all th enemy bases and check posts in the district were overrun while Sarlola, Baqlak, Kaj Gardan, Tajikan, Kazarha, Zulmabad and Kamalenk, Yebab and Soch areas of Jurm district were cleared from enemy presence.

The enemy has reportedly sustained deadly casualties in the fighting whereas a sizable amount of arms, ammo and other equipment has also been seized by the Mujahideen.

Officials say that Mujahideen have laid a tight siege to Khash district administration building where the remaining enemy troops have taken refuge and have cut off all land supply routes.
