Abdul Salam Jawad, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, revealed to media that in the initial eight months of the current year, Afghanistan has exported 654,000 tons of coal valued at $65 million.
Jawad highlighted that these coal shipments have been sent to countries including Pakistan, China, Iran, India, and Turkey. Afghanistan possesses significant coal reserves, with officials citing the presence of around 700 kilometers of coal mines spanning from Badakhshan to Herat, with some of these reserves already being tapped into.
Notably, the coal revenues from the Balkhab region have been specifically earmarked for the Qush Tepa Canal, representing a strategic allocation of resources within the sector.
