A preliminary meeting was convened to kickstart operational activities related to the TAPI pipeline, Afghan-Turkmen Economic Corridor, and other energy transmission initiatives.

During this gathering, the esteemed Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, disclosed that the TAPI pipeline spans a total length of 1,840 kilometers, with 214 kilometers already established within Turkmenistan’s borders.

As per his statements, the TAPI pipeline boasts a capacity to convey 33 billion cubic meters of gas yearly, with Afghanistan slated to utilize five billion cubic meters, while the remaining 14-14 billion cubic meters are allocated for consumption in Pakistan and India.

Per Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi’s insights, Afghanistan is set to receive 500 million cubic meters of gas within the initial decade, a figure that will escalate to one billion cubic meters in the subsequent decade, and eventually surge to one and a half billion cubic meters in the third decade. He further noted that Afghanistan stands to accrue approximately $450 million annually as a transit fee.
