KABUL, Nov. 07 – The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers the COP27 held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt as the first step towards resolving the current climate challenges in the world & believes that these shared challenges cannot be solved without mutual understanding & joint efforts, said ministry of foreign affairs in a statement.

Since impact of climate change transcends political boundaries, so too must counter-measures be delinked from political considerations.

As such, countries like Afghanistan which have not contributed negatively to climate change but are facing its destructive impact, must not be ignored, the statement added.

Afghanistan has sustained more than two billion dollars in losses so far this year due to the negative effect of climate change.

For recovery, preventing potential losses and building community resiliance, extending development assistance by the international community to Afghanistan, in line with our national priorities, is vital for Afghanistan until it attains economic stability.
