During the Afghan delegation’s visit to Turkmenistan led by Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hidayatullah Badri, discussions were held between Mr. Abdul Bari Umar, the Executive Director General of the Afghanistan Electricity Company (DABS), and Minister of Energy Anagaldi Saparov concerning the implementation of the TAP project and subsequently, an agreement was formalized.
With the signing of this agreement, both parties will construct facilities on their respective territories for the realization of the mentioned project and concurrently finalize the pertinent documentation.
Apart from generating job opportunities for numerous individuals within Afghanistan, this initiative will enable the country to access a substantial amount of electricity via this line and also receive transit fees from the electricity transmitted to Pakistan annually.
The TAP project facilitates the transmission of electricity from Turkmenistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan.
