KABUL, Feb. 10 – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the IEA, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with the British Ambassador Hugo Shorter and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, Mr. Schater expressed satisfaction over his arrival in Kabul and noted the positive changes that have taken place with the new government as war has been ended, security has been insured, situation is normal, humanitarian assistance is being distributed properly and the educational institutions has been opened.
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom had instructed me to increase our engagement with the new government of Afghanistan, we will increase engagement and humanitarian assistance, he added while noting specific aid for improvement of banking sector as well. Foreign Minister said; The new Afghan government welcomes the UK’s humanitarian assistance and co-operation in education.
The British delegation said; We also call on the international community to work together for the economic development of Afghanistan and urge the new government to plane accelerating economic growth, and provide investment opportunities.
The delegation also noted that no foreign groups should have activities in Afghanistan. The Foreign Minister while addressing their concern said; We pledge that Afghanistan’s soil will not be used to the detriment of any country, nor will we allow anyone to operate here.
Mr Mottaki said some media outlets were trying to make baseless allegations against the new government in order to challenge international confidence and create mistrust.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to expend such meetings and contacts.
