Acting Interior Minister, meets Ambassador of Turkey

KABUL, Jan. 19 – Acting Minister of Interior, Sirajuddin Haqqani, met with the Ambassador of Turkey, Mr. Jihad Erginay, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the Turkish ambassador described the Turkish-Afghan relations as historic, saying that the Afghans had helped the Turks in their struggle for freedom. “When everyone left and closed their diplomatic missions, we stayed in Afghanistan to help the Afghans,” he said.

“Various Turkish aid agencies, including the Turkish Red Crescent Society, TIKA and Maaref Afghan schools, are serving Afghans here,” he said while assuring that Turkey would not allow any action against the Afghan government.
Expressing his gratitude for Turkey’s humanitarian aid, Khalifa Sahib said: “Those who are afraid of the IEA and fled to Turkey should return to their country benefiting from general amnesty, and Turkey should cooperate in their return.

The Acting Minister of Interior also asked the Turkish Ambassador to allocate quotas and special scholarships for the education of Afghan orphans in Maaref Afghan schools. The Turkish ambassador promised to cooperate in this matter.
