KABUL, Nov. 01 – Officials at the Ministry of Industry and Trade say that 75 tons of pine nuts worth about 400,000 US dollars are being exported to China by land.

Ehsanullah Fitrat, head of export development of the ministry, said today (Tuesday) at resumption ceremony of export of pine nuts to China in Kabul, that for the first time, 75 tons of pine nuts worth about 440 thousand US dollars are being exported to China through the land corridor.

He added that this convoy will reach China by land from Afghanistan to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and then it will be exported from there through air corridor.

75 tons of pine nuts are exported to China every day and will reach Shanghai in three to five days, he said.

Nouruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade, said at the ceremony that in the first six months of this year, Afghanistan’s exports have increased by 50 billion AFN.

 

He says, the ministry is trying to provide more opportunities for Afghanistan’s exports and are in talks to export cotton to Pakistan and Iran to bring about a positive change in the country’s economic situation.

 

It is worth mentioning that on the 18th of the last month of Mizan, 20 tons of pine nuts were exported to China, and 12 tons of pine nuts were exported from Herat to Germany worth 400 thousand US dollars on Monday.
