The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a meeting with the Special Representative of the Government of Pakistan, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, and his accompanying delegation, says a statement of the ministry of foreign affairs.
During this encounter, discussions revolved around the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, focusing on political and economic collaboration, transit arrangements, and people-to-people interactions.
The Foreign Minister underscored that hindrances in transit routes and trade do not serve the interests of either nation and advocated for these issues to be addressed independently. He also emphasized the gradual and dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan to their homeland, rather than resorting to coercive measures.
The Pakistani Special Representative highlighted that the security situation in Afghanistan is crucial for Pakistan and the broader region. He pledged to streamline visa issuance for Afghans, facilitate their travel to Pakistan, and undertake concrete actions to tackle existing trade and transit challenges.
Both parties stressed the importance of convening joint meetings and exchanging delegations to actively resolve outstanding issues.
