During his trip to Oman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, engaged in separate discussions with the Minister of the Sultan’s Office, the heads of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and the Minister of Religious Affairs.

 

These meetings focused on exploring investment prospects between Afghanistan and Oman, strategies to enhance bilateral trade, and collaborative initiatives between the two nations.

 

The Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs urged the Minister of the Sultan’s Office of Oman to facilitate direct flights for Afghan individuals detained in Oman, address the challenges faced by Afghan citizens in Oman, and promote cultural exchanges to support their potential repatriation.

 

Additionally, cooperation with the Afghan Embassy was sought to resolve consular issues for Afghan residents in Oman.

 

The Omani Minister assured that special amnesties would be granted for the release of Afghan prisoners on significant occasions in the near future, committing to liaise with the Afghan Embassy to streamline consular services for Afghans residing in Oman.

 

Furthermore, discussions with the leaders of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Investment resulted in an agreement to establish regular communication channels between the Commerce Ministries and private sectors of both countries to deliberate on boosting trade, initiating direct flights, and exploring investment possibilities.

 

Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi also proposed sharing experiences related to mosques, Hajj, and endowments between the two nations to the Minister of Religious Affairs of Oman, inviting assistance in mosque construction projects in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs of Oman affirmed its willingness to exchange expertise and collaborate with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Guidance, Hajj, and Endowments.
