During visit to Badakhshan Province, the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Alhaj Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration, Maulvi Husamuddin Saberi, held meetings with key figures including Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat, Commander of the 217th Army Corps, Mawlawi Amanuddin Mansoor, Deputy Governor, Qari Aminullah Tayyab, Police Chief, Alhaj Mullah Azizullah, and other local officials.

The Acting Minister stressed the importance of combatting smuggling and illegal mineral mining, urging enhanced coordination and cooperation from the authorities of Badakhshan Province. He visited the extraction sites of the Zarshoi mine in Shahr-e-Bazrg district, emphasizing to company representatives and locals that unlawful mining activities will not be tolerated. All mining entities are required to promptly adhere to legal procedures by obtaining permits or agreements.

Addressing the miners, the Acting Minister highlighted the Ministry’s streamlined mining procedures and emphasized that licenses will now be issued by the Badakhshan Provincial Department of Mines for enhanced efficiency, shifting away from the previous practice of obtaining them from Kabul.

In conclusion, he made it clear that illegal mining activities will face legal repercussions, underscoring a commitment to enforce regulations and deal with violators through legal means.
