NANGARHAR, Aug. 03 – Six irrigation projects worth 109 million Afghanis in Rodat district of Nangarhar province have been inaugurated by the Honorable Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, Acting Minister of Water and Energy, Honorable Mawlawi Syed Ahmad Banuri, Deputy Governor of Nangarhar, and a number of other local officials.

Accirding to a statement of ministry of water and energy the Acting Minister of Water and Energy said that the ministry has planned programs for water management and energy production at the country level according to which in the eastern zone and Nangarhar province In order to solve the problems of water shortage, there is a plan to implement water supply, construction of dams and similar projects.

In these projects, a 33 meter long and one meter high water dam, a 735 meter long and 2 meter wide water channel, and a 900 meter long sewage treatment plant in Rogan, Qatrag and Mirja villages of this district as well as repairs of 24 checkdams, hundreds of meters of retaining walls and small water reservoirs.

These projects are being carried out with the financial support of the WFP organization, with the technical cooperation of the A, I, D organization and under the supervision of the Nangarhar river basin, where many people were provided with work.

Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Water and Energy, besides visiting various projects in Nangarhar province, also visited a water reservoir in Bala Kot area of ​​Kot district of the said province, which stores about 83 thousand cubic meters of water.
