The Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Alhaj Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, signed a 30-year marble mine agreement for the Dara Noor area in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar Province.
The agreement, worth $6.2 million, was finalized with Musa Amiyoglu, Deputy Director of Turkey’s Emioglu Extraction, Processing, and Trading Company. The mining area spans 3 square kilometers and is expected to bring substantial economic and social benefits to the region.
The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, 11/23/1403, in the conference hall of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. Attendees included Sheikh Ziaur Rahman Al-Aryubi, Deputy Director of Planning and Policy, Engineer Wahidullah Halimi, Senior Advisor to the Ministry, as well as other directors and media representatives. The event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by remarks from the Acting Minister.
Alhaj Mullah Hedayatullah Badri expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating, “I am pleased that today we are signing this agreement with the Turkish company Emioglu for a major project in the Dara Noor area of Kandahar Province. This project will create hundreds of job opportunities for young people and provide medical, educational, and other social services to the local community.”
Musa Amiyoglu, representing Emioglu, highlighted the project’s significance and expressed gratitude to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. He added, “After extraction and processing, we aim to introduce Afghan marble to the global market, which will benefit both the people and governments of Afghanistan and Turkey.”
The agreement marks a key step in leveraging Afghanistan’s natural resources for economic growth, job creation, and improved social services, while also strengthening international partnerships in the mining sector.
