KABUL, Jan. 17 – The new Deputy Special Representative (Development) of UNAMA, Mr. Indrika Ratwette called on IEA-Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi today, says Abdul Qahar Balkhi the spokesman of the foreign ministry.

At the outset, congratulating Mr. Indrika on his new position & expressing gratitude to the former Deputy Director of UNAMA, Mr. Daniel Andres for his good management & efforts, FM Muttaqi wished him success in his new tenure.

FM Muttaqi said that IEA has created appropriate conditions for humanitarian & development work as demonstrated by the progress made in this domain over past two years.

Referring to his previous job as the head of Asia-Pacific region of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Indrika said that he had also exerted efforts to alleviate problems of Afghans, especially those residing in neighboring countries & the returnees.

He said that he is determined to work & support Afghans in the humanitarian and development fields. In the end, the Minister of Foreign Affairs assured Mr. Indrika of full support and cooperation.
