KABUL, Dec. 18 – The Special Envoy of the People’s Republic of China to Afghanistan Mr. Yue Xiaoyong called on IEA-Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, said Abdul Qahar Balkhi the spokesman of the foreign ministry.
In this meeting, comprehensive talks was held regarding recent progress in bilateral relations, in particular the participation of IEA-Foreign Minister in Trans-Himalaya Forum, meeting of the two foreign ministers, commencement of work by IEA-Ambassador in Beijing & China’s investments in Afghanistan.
Calling the acceptance of IEA-Ambassador in Beijing a significant development, FM Muttaqi commended China’s positive position in international forums.
Moreover, FM Muttaqi stressed on the practical work of Aynak copper project and assuring readiness of relevant departments thereof, adding that both sides should work on ways to inrease Afghan exports to China.
The Chinese SE said that his country respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty & will never interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.
Mr. Yue said that China has exempted tariff on majority goods imported from Afghanistan as to promote trade growth between the two countries.
The Chinese Special Enovy emphasised that the relevant departments of both countries should work in earnest towards the practical commencement of the project.
The two sides stressed on expanding relations, increasing trade and further cooperation in political domains.
