KABUL, Sep. 16 – Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) yet again referred 48 more children suffering from pediatric heart failure to 2 local hospitals in Kabul for treatment and surgery.

The entire cost of the treatment and operation of these patients is paid by Afghan Red Crescent. Currently over 12,000 children with heart disease are registered with ARCS, who are waiting for the surgery and treatment.

In past 14 months, Afghan Red Crescent has referred 1,771 children suffering from pediatric heart failure to various hospitals in the country for operations and treatment, thereof nearly 1,500 have recovered and returned to their homes. The rest are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
