KABUL, Jan. 04 – A project of maintenance and monitoring the dam of Qargha, worth nearly 6 million Afghanis was inaugurated in Paghman District of Kabul Province.

This project inaugurated by the supervision of Mr. Engineer Habibur Rahman Haqpal, General Director of Kabul River Basin, Mr. Mawlawi Wali Muhammad Taib, Head of Middle Kabul Sub River Basin, Mr. Engineer Habibur Rahman Mubarez, Head of Water Facilities Protection, Monitoring and Utilization, and a number of other officials of the Ministry of Energy and Water.

Mr. Engineer Habiburrehman Haqpal, the head of Kabul general river basin, expressed that the purpose of implementing this project is to protect and monitor Qargha Dam.

Referring to the maintenance and monitoring of water facilities, Mr. Haqpal asked the contractor to pay more attention to the implementation of the project and the improvement of quality.

General Field Manager of Paghman District, Mr. Engineer Mohammad Ismail, briefed regarding the project and said that the purpose of implementing this project is to protect, monitor and prevent the destruction of the dam’s surroundings.

It’s worth noting three other projects have been implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Water in the upper part of the Qargh Dam for the purpose of protection and maintenance of the dam’s channels and entrances to the dam.
