Chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the second session of the High Council for Standards convened today, at the Marmarin Palace.

During the meeting, a total of 30 standards were endorsed. The gathering was graced by the presence of Mullah Faizullah Tamim, the Director-General of the National Standards Authority, along with council’s permanent members and delegates from the private sector. In his introductory address, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund underscored the importance of establishing and enforcing standards to guarantee the delivery of superior domestic and imported goods to the Afghan populace.

He stressed that adhering to these standards would deter the influx of subpar products, ensuring the public’s access to top-notch commodities. He fervently urged all entities to rigorously enforce and oversee the standards sanctioned by the council.

The session put forth 30 prospective standards for endorsement across various sectors, encompassing construction materials, food and beverages, medical equipment, mining, petroleum products, textiles, environmental preservation, and electrical devices. Following exhaustive deliberations, the council unanimously greenlit the proposed standards.
