FARYAB, Aug. 25 – Reports arriving from Shrin Tagab district state that a heavy gunfight broke out against enemy troops in Faiz abad area at around 3:00 pm today. Attacks of heavy and light weapons that lasted till 7:00 pm, left 3 hireling tanks destroyed, 4 including deputy police chief – Haji Muqim – were killed with further 10 including the said district police chief – Izatullah Sanger Mal – critically wounded. The enemy was ultimately force to retreat as they arrived area for establishing new check posts. Mujahideen suffered no casualties in the operation.
