KANDAHAR, Jan. 20 – Reports from Maiwand district of Kandahar province state that Mujahideen carried out attacks on a hireling convoy and various check posts in Sara Baghal area overnight, amid ongoing ‘Omari’ annual campaign. Firefight of heavy and light arms forced the convoy to flee while 2 key check posts of their front line were overrun after killing at least 24 puppets as well as forcing the rest to flee. An APC and 7 rifles were recovered from the posts and a ranger pickup, 1 APC and 3 vehicles destroyed in the gunfight. It is said that a Mujahid has embraced martyrdom with 2 others sustained injuries during the operation.
