24 killed and wounded as 2 tanks, 4 APCs and 1 vehicle destroyed in Helmand

HELMAND, Aug. 18 – Officials say Mujahideen foiled a joint enemy offensive aimed to reopen the Kandahar-Lashkargah highway in the surroundings of Nahr Siraj region of Gerishk district midday on Wednesday.
Attack of heavy and light weapons were lasted till evening hours, during which 2 hireling armored tanks were destroyed by IED attacks in Yaklang area, a ranger pickup was destroyed by RPG fire in Makhtar area and 3 APCs in Popalzo area as well as another APC was destroyed by roadside bomb attack.
Meanwhile enemy patrol came under a series of Mujahideen bombings, killing and wounding 24 puppets and forcing the enemy to retreat
and the said highway still remains blocked off.
Mujahideen have suffered no casualties during the operation.
