21 killed, 7 APCs destroyed as battalion overrun in Maiwand

KANDAHAR, Oct. 07 – At around 11:00 pm local time on Thursday Mujahideen attacked an enemy battalion in Spin Manda area of Maiwand district, amid ongoing Operation Omari.
Attacks of heavy and light arms lasted till 4:00 am this morning and resulted in the battalion was overrun and enemy was forced to flee while leaving 21 corpses on the battle ground.
An APC and 7 vehicles of different types of ammunition was confiscated.
Meanwhile 2 more APCs were destroyed by IED attacks and 5 others by heavy artillery fire after Mujahideen attacked enemy reinforcement troops arriving to the area, killing and wounding all gunmen.
Some days ago enemy has abandoned 10 of its check post with the overrunning of the battalion large swath of land falls to Mujahideen.
