NANGARHAR, Feb. 04 – Construction works of two irrigation projects of water supply have been completed and commissioned through the efforts of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Nangarhar, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and with the financial support and the technical cooperation of the “DRC” institute in Mohmandera and Ghani Khel districts of this province.

Nangarhar Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Director Mawlawi Abdul Sattar Muhammad, local officials of the said districts, officials of “DRC” institution, tribal leaders and residents of the area participated in the inaugural ceremonies.

Director of Nangarhar Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Mawlawi Abdul Sattar Mohammad said that two irrigation projects at the cost of 10.7 million AFN in Mohmandera and Ghani Khel districts  have been completed and a 500 meters of canal has been repaired and 500 meters of rivers have been cleaned in Lundli village of Mohmandera district, and three culverts have also been repaired along the canal at the cost of 5.4 million AFN and it irrigates 1,300 acres of agricultural land.

Mr. Mohammad also said that a 405-meter long retaining wall has been built at the cost of 5.3 million AFN in Ragha village of Daghani Khel district, which protects 800 houses and a large number of agricultural lands from the threat of floods.
