KANDAHAR, Aug. 01 – Officials say amid ongoing Omari annual campaign Mujahideen carried out an attack on a strategic enemy base located in Ala Jargi area of Maruf district at 11:00 pm local time on Sunday.
Attack of heavy and light arms lasted till 4:00 am resulted in the said base was overrun killing 12 including a hireling commander – Abdul Aziz – and leaving 6 others severely wounded.
Later on Mujahideen destroyed the base with explosives.
6 Mujahideen were wounded while another one embraced martyrdom during the operation.
Meanwhile 5 APCs and ranger pickup of a reinforcement convoy heading towards the said base were destroyed by IED attacks in Dwam and Shadi Khak areas.
Hireling also suffered losses after their patrol attacked in the area.
